Ending the Detox

Detox Recap

Well-- I have completed 7 days of detox and it has been great! Not once did I feel deprived, or hungry. I have really enjoyed all the healthy, nutritious foods I’ve been eating and the new recipes I’ve tried and created. I definitely intend to incorporate some of the new recipes into my usual meal plans. One recipe I have truly enjoyed is the homemade granola. Click on the link below for the recipe. I altered it a bit by adding unsweetened, coconut flakes, pumpkin seeds, and banana chips. I used olive oil for the oil and agave nectar for the sweetener. I also added dried cranberries and lined the baking pan with parchment paper. I lowered the oven temperature to 275 degrees and cooked for almost exactly 10 minutes. I’ve tried homemade granola before and found it very easy to overcook. This time I removed it from the oven just in time!

Ending the detox

When coming off a detox, it is important to reintroduce foods that were removed one at a time. This will help you identify any possible food sensitivities. For instance, today I reintroduced eggs, tomorrow I will have wheat and after that, dairy. If I notice any symptoms such as a rash, hives, excess mucus, headache, etc. this may be a clue that the reintroduced food is one that I have a sensitivity to.

Although you may be reintroducing foods, remember to always keep a clean, whole foods diet most of the time and eat other foods in moderation!
